Rembrandt’s Treasures

Amsterdam, Netherlands - January 2019

My partner and I visited Rembrandt’s House while walking through Amsterdam on New Year's Day. It was surprisingly bigger on the inside, just a very narrow house. He had so many items that he collected over the years, it was fascinating the things that inspired him. Since there were so many people inside, I was only able to capture a few good pictures. I’m just glad that my favorite of his writing desk was able to come out perfectly.

Parc de Bruxelles

Brussels, Belgium - January 2019

When my partner and I visited the Palace of Brussels, we walked through the park in front of the Palace. We were taken back on how the park gave an apocalypse vibe as if the park was abandoned by the society that died. Which is not the case at all, it turns out that in the winter season gives the park that look. There’s also a lot of moss on the statues and fountains that are shut off. The winter season is really eerie aesthetic, and the photos reflect that.

Les Catacombes de Paris

Catacombs of Paris, Paris, France - January 2019

Due to the graphic nature of these photos, viewers discretion is advised.

These are real bones of a small portion of six million people that passed away due to health issues as early as the 13th century. Due to the overwhelming deaths, the civilians rediscovered Gallo-Roman tunnels and repurposed to store the bones. The project took about 12 years to transport; the dead include famous writers, artists, architects and french revolutionists. Today, tours open to the public only allows a two-mile portion of the catacombs, but the tunnels have stretched to the outskirts of Paris.
When my partner and I went to the tour, we observed over what was already staggering amount of bones, we can’t imagine that there were more outside our two-mile. The tunnels were small and the air quality was low. This site is not for the fate of hearts, I personally felt uncomfortable to even go near the bones. Please do not take these pictures lightly.

Le Lourve et Musée de l'Armée

Louvre Museum and The Army Museum , Paris, France - December 2019

I decided to merge my photos of both museums together. In honesty, I didn’t have many photos for both museums to have their own gallery. However, I think that they compliment each other in style and atmosphere. Maybe when I added my twist, they will really be symmetrical art.

C'est La Fête

Disneyland Paris, Marne-la-Vallée, France - January 2019

Now the translation to “C'est La Fête” actually is “it’s a party (feast)”, which is the French version of “Be Our Guest”. It’s very appropriate for the fact that this Disneyland had so much variety, gray stuff and all. Now both my partner and I are experienced Disney park goers, so we couldn’t pass up the chance when we had an extra day. There were some old favorites and there were also new adventures. At the end of it all, we both felt welcomed and spoiled with all the fun that Disneyland Paris can offer. Bon Appétit!

The Bastard City of Europe

Brussels, Belgium - January 2019

The bastard city of Europe was said by our tour guide when my partner and I were trying all the beers and chocolates. Brussels has been conquered by so many other countries, from the Spaniards to the French for hundreds of years. Those overturns are definitely reflected not only in the architecture, but within the society itself. The locals speak multiple languages, there are multiple cultures, and multiple styles all within one city. Maybe that’s why the European Union established a branch in Brussels, but I don’t really know. I believe that these pictures reflect what we witnessed.

ARTIS’ Beauty

Amsterdam, Netherlands - December 2018

While my partner and I was in Amsterdam, his biggest goal was to visit the ARTIS Royal Zoo because he saw a video about it. I had no expectations and he only saw what the video featured. Once we got there, we completely were floored by how beautiful and huge this nature park really is. That’s not the only thing we came across while spectating the view.

Rembrandt’s City of Color

Amsterdam, Netherlands - December to January 2019

My partner and I went on a trip to Europe as a gift for his thirtieth birthday, we didn’t expect Amsterdam would be a city that has a little of everything. These are pictures of places scattered throughout the city that we ran into. Some were filled with people, shops, and restaurants; some were fields of nature, cows, and a windmill. The connection to all these different places, besides that this all takes place in Amsterdam, rivers.

Museum of Real Wonder

Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn NY – October 2018

The Brooklyn Museum has free nights that I took advantage of during my house sitting week. The building is smaller than the Metropolitan Museum of Art and way smaller than the Louvre, then I went inside. It was an endless amount of space that I one point I was lost in the art world like I never have been before. Here are a few pieces that stood out to me.

Bridge to the Waterfront

Brooklyn Bridge to Dumbo, Brooklyn NY – October 2018

I never walked the Brooklyn Bridge before in all my years living in the NY area. During a house sitting, I decided to just go on a warm day. As I walked from the start of Manhattan side into Brooklyn, I thought about the years that this bridge has gone through. At one point, it felt as if I went back in time with the modern people around me.

A Not-So-Secret Garden in Brooklyn

Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn NY – October 2018

I went to this Botanical Garden during a time when I was house sitting and really getting to know the Borough of Brooklyn. I heard about this place through a friend who works there. Little did I imagine I stumbled into an mystical like escape, as if Frances Hodgson Burnett wrote this wonder away from the cluster of the city. I hope that these flowers spoke to you as much as they did to me though my camera.
